Best for the BOE right now

Woody Crouch has lived in Scarsdale for over 40 years and is deeply invested in the Scarsdale Community. He is offering his services and skills to the Scarsdale Board of Education, because he would like to do whatever he can to ensure that the Scarsdale School system remains among the best in the country. Woody was honored with the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award from the USMMA for exemplifying the best tradition of the Corps “ACTA NON VERBA” (Deeds Not Words). Mr. Crouch exemplifies this motto in all parts of his life.

Woody spent most of his career at NYPA. There he undertook a major project for NYPA: the of installation of ten power plants in NYC to prevent summer blackouts. This effort was accomplished in nine months from August 2000 to June 2001! Because the relationships Mr. Crouch built early in his career with the local congressman and community leaders, he was able to get quick acceptance. He accomplished the nearly impossible because the communities who’d oppose the project trusted him. On Staten Island, they said, “If Woody Crouch is going to do this job I will support it. I trust Woody.” This is just one of many examples of Woody’s ability to work with the community on projects through honesty, respect for the community and thoughtfulness.

Woody Crouch will bring his unique experience in building billion dollar power plants and laying cables and wires through communities to bear on the capital programs that we are commencing for the Scarsdale Schools. Much of Scarsdale’s infrastructure is turning 100, and he can help the community through this critical period in Scarsdale’s history. Woody has the skills and temperament to support the work ahead. Woody has tremendous respect for teachers and values Scarsdale Schools. He currently has 5 grandchildren in the Scarsdale schools. He has desire, time and temperament to add value and new ideas, while listening to and collaborating with those who have been serving on the Board for many years.  Read more about Woody’s background under Biography tab.
